THERMAL BATHS COMMUNITY PROGRAMMES. CASTILLA-LA MANCHA
This service aims to provide access to the spa for older people who require treatments based on a medical prescription.
The Thermal Baths Programme is carried out every year between February and December, in two group stays. Each stay lasts 9 or 10 days, and is all inclusive.
The program includes the following services::
- All inclusive room and board, in shared double bedrooms, for 10 days and 9 nights.
- Basic thermal treatments, including:
- Medical exam upon admission to the spa.
- Individualized thermal treatment prescribed by the spa doctor.
- Treatment follow-up, with final report.
- Socio-cultural activities.
- Group travel insurance policy.
- Although the participants of this programme are responsible for transport both to and from the baths, Tus Spa does offer a free shuttle service from Hellín (80 km) and Albacete (145 km) to the spa. This service will also be available for the return journey to both these locations.
Clients must meet the following requirements in order to be eligible to use this service:
- They must be 65 years of age or older, or a Social Security recipient based on retirement, handicap, or widow/er status, or other pensioners, and be at least 60 years of age.
- They must be residents of Castilla-La Mancha.
- They must not suffer serious mental illness that could affect normal co-habitation in the facilities, nor any infectious or contagious illness.
- They must have a reasonable level of independence.
- They must have a need for the thermal treatments requested, having no medical contraindications against them.
- They must meet with the requirements of current spa standards governing access to the spa and the requested sessions.
- They must have completed the post-operatory period of any major surgical procedure (6 months).
- The applicant may attend with their spouse or live-in partner, as long as he/she is able to receive treatments and there is no medical contraindication.
- It is possible to link two independent applications, making one acceptance contingent on the other. Both applicants must attend the same sessions and the same spa. The acceptance of both applications will depend on the availability of sufficient places in the sessions and spas requested.
These places are subsidized by the Community Board of Castilla-La Mancha, and thus final costs to the Tus Spa user are:
- February, March, April, November, and December: 189,00 €
- May, June, July, August, September, and October: 231,00 €
Where and when are applications submitted?
Applications are submitted to the Centre for Health and Social Wellbeing or its local offices.
For the first period sessions (February-August), the deadlines for the submission of applications is from the date of publication of the call for applications until November 2, 2009.
For the second period sessions, (September-December) from February 1 until March 31, 2010.

- They must be a pensioner in the Social Security system based on retirement, handicap, widow/er status, or other pensioners, and be at least 60 years of age.
- They must not suffer serious mental illness that could affect normal co-habitation in the facilities, nor any infectious or contagious illness.
- They must have a reasonable level of independence.
- They must have a need for the thermal treatments requested and have no medical contraindications against them.
- They must make the session payment in the time period indicated in the session timetable above (both the deposit and the rest of the payment due).
- The applicant may be accompanied by his or her spouse or live-in partner, who does not necessarily have to be a pensioner claiming Social Security.
The spaces are subsidized by IMERSO, and thus final costs to theTus Spa user are:
- February, March, November, and December: 334,60 €
- April, May, and October: 384,60 €
- June, July, August, and September 404,60 €
Where and when are applications submitted?
Applications should be submitted personally or via mail to:
- Imserso Centres for Older People or the regional office corresponding to the applicant’s area of residence.
- Designated Autonomous Community organizations which fulfil the functions and services of Imserso.
- Central Service Offices of Imserso.
For the first period sessions (February-August), the time period for submission of applications is:
- With priority in the assignment of places: until January 15, 2010.
- To be included in the Waiting List: until May 17 2010.
For the second period sessions (September-December), the time period for submission of applications is:
- With priority in the assignment of places: until May 17, 2010.
- To be included in the Waiting List: until October 29, 2010.
